Yesterday, I spoke at the General Debate on Covid-19 regarding the need for the Government to support the directors of limited companies.
While the Government has provided immense economic support to people up and down the country, in my view it is not right that supermarkets have benefited from up to £1.9 billion in rate relief, while directors of this kind have not received similar levels of support.
Along with other MPs, I am therefore calling on the Government to retrieve the money that has been given to the big four supermarkets through rate relief, and use it to offer a package of support to people who run limited companies. After all, it is these very people who make up the backbone of our economy.
